Once I moseyed downtown, there I saw some people.

 

Most everybody seemed to be on their own, between one place and another. Not many people were hanging out, enjoying the ambiance.

 

 

The people who were hanging around, I didn't stop to talk with.

 
 

No, most of the people I saw on the streets were working.
People get paid to be in downtown Clayton.

 

 

There's things happening,
and there's people making those things happen.
But Clayton looks to St. Louis for its reason to exist.

Clayton seemed like the Tin Man of Midwestern Towns.
I felt like it didn't have a heart.

 

 

So all in all, if you're in Clayton, well,
there's some nice parks and a couple of nice restaurants.

If you're not in Clayton, that's good too.
