It's been about 3 weeks, and most of these seedlings have now sprouted.
Here's a more interesting style of gardening.
These seedlings are protected from cats and squirrels by folded tomato frames and wooden strips. The resulting gridwork forms rectangles 4-6 inches on a side.
The fun is that you take random seeds and just poke them into the boxes where ever you want. We won't know what's growing where until all the plants get their secondary leaves. |
No idea yet, what these are. |
These are still listed as unknowns, too. They might be turnip greens. We'll find out. |
Here's a second crop of carrots, 2 weeks younger than the first batch. |
All but one of these beets will be used for greens. |
Here's a little home-scale permaculture in action. The large bok choi is sheltering those tiny beet seedlings in a shady damp microclimate. The bok choi will be big enough to eat very soon, just when those radishes on the left need more room. They'll develop quickly, and they'll be in our salad bowls by the time those beets get really bushy. |
Your guess is as good as ours, but we know it's damn cute. |
